
James A. Massey, Founder and Chairman of the Board - James A. Massey is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Cyber Operations, Inc., a global provider of security solutions including network security, biometrics and digital media distribution. Cyber Operations' products are running on some of our nation's most sensitive and secure networks in this country and abroad.
Mr. Massey began his career after service in U. S. Army Aviation in the 60's.
An environmentalist, in 1971, Mr. Massey founded Resource Industries of Tennessee and Alabama. He conceived and permitted first liquid hazardous waste incinerator in United States in Memphis, Tennessee. Resource Industries later became the nation's premier landfill for the disposal of industrial hazardous and toxic waste. That lead to a medical waste company he created in 1985 called Health Management Incorporated where the "red box on the wall" was born. Now doctors, hospitals and medical facilities everywhere use the "red box" to safely contain medical waste.
Never idle, Mr. Massey has served or currently serves in management and on boards in industries including wound care, computer technology, copyright & anti-piracy, aviation, hazardous, infectious and low-level nuclear waste, real estate, agriculture, and mortgage.
His devotion to his community lead him to twenty years in law enforcement serving in all capacities from recruit to Chief. He has served twice in Tennessee State government as Chief of Staff to the Lt. Governor and Speaker of the Senate for six years. Highest appointed office in the Legislature.
He is a venture capitalist, Master Mariner and since 1957, an avid aviation enthusiast. He is an Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor, type-rated in Learjets, Citations and military L-39s. A Scottish Right Mason and Shriner, Mr. Massey is married to the former Debra Marcrum, and has three daughters and two grandchildren.
Dustin C. Defnall, President - Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Mr. Defnall joined the United States Navy as a Cryptologist for the Commander in Chief Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk Virginia. Immediately upon graduating from Cryptologist .A. school in Pensacola Florida as an Honor Graduate, he was assigned to the Atlantic Intelligence Command, an assignment typically reserved for more experienced personnel. During his four-year tour, he had the honor of being the youngest enlisted sailor to obtain the position of Operations Petty Officer for the Consolidated Intelligence Communications Center from January 1993 to May 1996.
After completing four years of service and receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy, Mr. Defnall accepted a position with NEWLINK Global Engineering based out of Washington D.C. as a Network Engineer. The initial Government contract was within the Joint Reserve Intelligence Connectivity Program (J.R.I.C.P). In 1998, a plan was approved to upgrade the Pentagon and portions of the White House in stages, and included everything from the building structure to establishing a state-of-the-art network. Mr. Defnall was a member of the initial 3 person team that designed, installed and implemented the first phase of the network upgrades. The installation designs were put to the test in 2001 when the Terrorist attacks on the Pentagon took aim at the only portion of the building that had been completely retrofitted.
Mr. Defnall joined Cyber Operations July 2005, as the Products Deployment Manager. He established a new division as well as a new line of products and services offered by Cyber Operations. In January 2006, Mr. Defnall was offered and accepted the position of President of Cyber Operations.
Mr. Defnall is married to Jessica (Struby) Defnall from Kansas City, Missouri, and resides in Gardendale, Alabama with their daughter Jillian and son Maxwell. The family is an active member of CrossPointe Baptist Church, Fultondale Alabama.
Annette Colvin, President and CEO, Cyber Operations FSD - Annette started her successful sales career in the PBX, wireless and telecommunications industry. Her professional career then progressed into a turnaround specialty generating a strong track record at AT&T as Director of Sales leading the global sales region in St. Louis. Under her leadership, sales increased from a negative position to over 100%. Her expertise focused on new account, competitive displacements, base protection, training and building winning pursuit and delivery teams.
Annette also served as Director of Sales at EDS in the Financial Services Industry Group. Annette initiated and led to closure large scale mega deal sales with an exceptional track record of significant revenue and profit with multifaceted technologies in ITO, application outsourcing, custom application development and BPO engagements. Annette's sales leadership with innovative solutions, cross industry pursuit teams and complex and large client engagements generated 100% win and close rate with an average deal size of $31M. Her initiatives also posted the highest EDS client relationship scores tracked by an independent survey with client input. Annette also created EDS' first entrance into a shared services utility model by taking EDS renowned heath care claims engine and produced a new market with small to mid-sized healthcare companies.
Prior to Cyber Operations Inc, Annette was the Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Solutions with CIBER, Inc serving under the highest producing region in the company despite a challenging economy.
Annette has earned numerous sales execution and leadership awards.
Annette enjoys family, church activities, charitable causes, golf, real estate, venture capital interests, consulting start-up and turnarounds, art, and technology research. Annette lives in Windermere, Florida with her husband Timothy.
Kevin Etheridge, CTO - Kevin began his career as a programmer in computational fluid dynamics at the Engineering Research Center at Mississippi State University. A graduate of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, Etheridge earned a perfect 36 ACT test score. He also earned National Merit Finalist honors and attended Mississippi State University with a full academic scholarship. At Mississippi State University, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, graduating magna cum laude.
Etheridge's areas of expertise include software product management, biometric algorithms, data compression algorithms, code optimization techniques, graphical user interface design and development, TCP/IP networking and client/server development, Unix application development and cross-platform applications development. Etheridge previously served as Vice President of Research at BoxTop Software, where he spearheaded Windows product development including product planning, design, coding and delivery.
Robert Miles, Chief Security Officer - Robert is an expert in Information Technology with over fifteen years experience in the Financial Services industry. He joins us from PSCU Financial Services where he was Director of Information Security. He creates and deploys solutions protecting networks including policies, procedures, audit and compliance, risk management/assessments, protection of systems and information assets for over six hundred financial institutions and business partners.
Robert has many certifications including CISSP, CISM, CEH, CRCI, GCIH, GCFA, and GLEG. He is also an expert in Disaster Recovery, Compliance, the Financial Sector, Infrastructure, and Risk Management.
Mary Stewart Nelson, General Counsel - Mary Nelson joined Cyber Operations in 2005 and currently serves as the company's general counsel. Nelson earned her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2005. Her expertise is corporate law, contract drafting, insurance and general litigation.
While in law school, Nelson was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and participated on an award-winning moot court team. She was also published in the Law & Psychology Review and later served as a managing editor. Nelson was also inducted into the Bench & Bar honor society. Prior to law school, Nelson attended Birmingham-Southern College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts with a distinction in leadership studies. While at Birmingham-Southern, she was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa and Order of Omega honor societies.
Nelson is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, Young Lawyers Society, American Bar Association and the Farrah Law Society. She is admitted to practice in Alabama and in the U.S. District Court, North District of Alabama.Nelson currently resides in Cahaba Heights, Alabama, where she enjoys the arts, travel and community involvement.
